Portable panels refill a station in daylight. They are not a roof, a net meter, or a set-and-forget plant.

Fold-out kits that plug into a power station. You aim them. Clouds cut the yield. And open-circuit voltage can kill a charge controller if you ignore the station’s window.

Here’s the job. Your power station is a tank — call it 2,000 watt-hours. Daylight is how you refill it when the wall is dead. A folding panel does that from a driveway. Unfold. Kickstand. Turn it twice before lunch. Fold it before hail. That is the whole product.

It is not a rail-and-inverter roof. It is not a briefcase SKU either. We have no official briefcase photograph in the catalog, so that format gets its own page and no invented model. Night puts back nothing. A four-hour evening outage does not care what the blanket says. Multi-day grid-down in decent sun is the job. Theft, wind, and Voc mistakes are how the job fails.

The two 200-watt folders are the default pair for a ~2 kWh station. Jackery SolarSaga 200W: 14.33 lb, $379, was $429. BLUETTI SP200L: 17.15 lb, $399. The Anker SOLIX PS400 is the 400-watt nameplate at 35.3 lb and $699.99. Twice the sticker watts. A carry you will feel in the wrists. Confirm the station’s solar watt and Voc window before you call 400 W a gift.

Who this silo is for

  • You own a power station, or will, and need daytime recharge.
  • You can aim panels and live with clouds cutting yield roughly in half.
  • You will read Voc against the station’s solar input maximum, with margin for cold sun.
  • You have a driveway, yard, or south wall that is not a theft magnet.

Who should skip it

  • You want set-and-forget production. That is rooftop. Out of scope.
  • Your outages are four hours at night. Buy watt-hours, not glass.
  • Your station’s input is small and you were about to series-wire random blankets.
  • You have nowhere to unfold 200–400 W that you can watch.

How to use a driveway array without fooling yourself

Nameplate watts are a lab number. Fixed light, fixed temperature, no leaves. A wet November driveway is not that lab. Shade on one cell can crater a string. Kickstands blow over. A charge through a closed window is a demo. Plan on well under nameplate in winter and haze.

  1. Buy the station job first — fridge surge, 120 vs 240 — then size panels to recharge, not the reverse.
  2. Read the solar input window on the station. Watts, Voc, sometimes Isc.
  3. Pick a named in-family panel from the cards above.
  4. Weigh the carry. 14–17 lb is a folder. 35.3 lb is a project.

Honest caveats

We do not feature unbranded 400 W blankets that over-Voc a Jackery input. EcoFlow panels exist. They are not featured partners (7-day cookie). We have not invented briefcase SKUs to fill a photo hole. Method: how we review.
