Two figures put this machine in the home-battery silo: 120/240 V output and 6,000 W continuous. Everything else on the plate follows from them. This is a named-SKU review, not a category trophy; The Home Backup lists the Anker SOLIX F3800 because it is the split-phase machine in the ledger, with an official manufacturer photograph. Tesla Powerwall is out of scope. Rooftop solar is out of scope. We do not invent outlet counts, solar-input watts, or extra-battery SKU names that are not on our dated spec sheet.

Who the F3800 is for
- You have a 240 V load you will not shed: a well, a dryer you will actually use, or a split-phase inlet already in the plan.
- You will pay an electrician for a legal interconnect. You will not use a dryer-outlet cheat cord.
- You can park 132.3 lb on a dry, flat floor and still reach the panel or inlet.
- You want LFP chemistry and a path to add kilowatt-hours later rather than guess a 10 kWh outage on day one.
Who should skip it
- Every essential is 120 V. Look at the AC200L or Explorer 2000 Plus instead.
- You need automatic HVAC for days. That is a standby generator.
- Stairs, a walk-up, or a wet basement with no casters-friendly floor.
- You wanted a wall pack quoted with a roof. Wrong site.
Capacity, output, and surge
Nameplate capacity is 3,840 Wh; plan runtime as if you will not empty the pack to the floor. A fridge that averages 150–250 W while cycling takes on the order of 1–2 kWh per day. Lights and a network stack are small. A 1,500 W space heater is a short evening. That ratio is the category in one line: more inverter than a portable station carries, and still a tank.
Continuous output is 6,000 W; surge is 9,000 W. Those are Anker’s listed numbers as of August 26, 2026. Locked-rotor current on a well or a compressor can still exceed what a given house will start, so test the load; 9,000 W is a rating, not a promise that every 240 V motor in the county will spin. Voltage is 120/240 V, and that one line is why this review sits in the home-battery silo instead of the ~2 kWh 120 V aisle.

Weight and where it lives
132.3 lb is the figure that decides placement. Casters work on a flat slab; they do not work on a stair. Two people and a plan beat one person and an estimate. Keep the cabinet dry, out of the standing water a weeping water heater leaves, and clear enough on all sides that the fans are not fighting a closet.
In form this is still a portable-class product: a tall gray wheeled cabinet, not a pad plant and not a wall-mounted ESS. It rolls; it does not travel. For reference, the Explorer 2000 Plus weighs 61.5 lb and the AC200L 62.4 lb; the F3800 is the one that stays where you put it.

Expanding and recharging
Expandable: yes. We do not invent the companion battery’s retail name. Extra kilowatt-hours stretch a 240 V must-list; they do not raise 6,000 W continuous to whole-home HVAC. If the house must behave like the grid for days, read battery vs standby and then the generator cost page.
Wall charging is how you recover between flickers; portable solar is how you recover when the utility stays down in daylight. Anker’s folding panel in this ledger is the SOLIX PS400 (400 W nameplate, 35.3 lb, IP67; Voc is a dash because Anker's pages never settle on one figure). What we are not claiming
We have not personally cycled an F3800 through a winter in a lab we own. This review is job-based plus the dated manufacturer ratings we can stand behind. We do not claim cycle counts we did not measure. We do not claim the cabinet is quiet in every fan curve. We do not claim it replaces a 20 kW liquid-cooled standby.
EcoFlow sells large expandable stations; they are not featured here because a 7-day cookie is a poor fit for this research cycle. We will not round out the page with a fake generator affiliate. If Anker’s live page disagrees with a number above on the day you buy, the live page wins.
The flip condition: every must-list load turns out to be 120 V. Then the decision reverses to a ~2 kWh core and the split-phase inverter goes unused. Otherwise, the plate stands.
